Financialization and Austerity

More of the Same? The Case of Ireland

Sep 03, 2019

Good afternoon AltAusterity Readers! Today we bring you a presentation paper by Dr. Stefanie Wöhl (European and International Studies (EIS): University of Applied Sciences BFI Vienna) wherein she identifies that there is inadequate attention paid to how the politics of financialization is worked into social reproduction and private households in the European Union. She points out that in the past, the scholarship on gendered international political economy has emphasized that financial markets and private households are inextricably linked and thus her paper analyzes the European integration process from a perspective that includes key insights from the gendered international political economy and asks which political and economic trajectories have become hegemonic before and after 2008.

You can find this paper under 'Case Studies' on our Research Page.
