Universal Pharmacare as an Alternative to Austerity

The shifting debate: "should we have national Pharmacare" to "what type of national Pharmacare should we implement?"

This week we feature a paper by Dr. Marc‐André Gagnon (Carleton University) wherein he examines the shortcomings of Canada's lacking universal healthcare system. He notes that Canada is the only country with a universal healthcare system that excludes prescription drugs. He unpacks the problems around access to prescription drugs for the working population and how the system inevitably ends up being a privilege offered by employers to employees.
