What Voices are Heard in Canadian Policymaking?

Good morning austerity readers! Today we have the last of the papers/presentations from our December 2016 workshop. On March 23-24th, we will hold the grant's second workshop and have fresh content for you all!

This week we have the full paper from Dr. Bryan Evans (Ryerson University, Canada) on the dynamics of voice and input in policy making in Canada. Dr. Evans examines the state of policy 'co-production' in Ontario, British Columbia, and Saskatchewan to determine the degree to which non-governmental actors are engaged in policymaking. What voices outside the state are heard, if at all, will shape what information and concerns go into problem definition, policy design, and implementation. Consequently, the dynamics of voice are very significant to austerity.
