Who are policy makers listening to in Germany?
A Network Analysis of Think Tank Influence on Austerity in Germany
Jan 23, 2018
Hello Austerity Readers! Today we have a presentation from Dr. Dieter Plehwe, Research Fellow at the WZB Berlin Social Science Center and Visiting Fellow at the Minda de Gunzburg Center for European Studies (CES) at Harvard University. Dr. Plehwe maps out the influence of pro-austerity think tanks in political institutions in Germany through a network analysis. This approach also maps out the role of influential economists in the policy advisory landscape, opening up new questions of the connections between individuals, advocacy institutes, and policy making.
You can find the presentation on our Research Page under 'Ideas & Advocacy', and we'll release the full paper from Dieter in the coming weeks.
