Who Do Policy Makers Listen To?
Irish researchers explore the network of voices who influence policy-making
Oct 31, 2017
Today marks the return of Dr. John Hogan and Dr. Brendan O'Rourke (Dublin Institute of Technology), this time discussing the role of ideas in policy making. Hogan and O'Rourke explore the channels and networks of voices which policy makers listen to, including themselves (!), think tanks, lobbyists, the media, and economics experts. If policy making is only open to particular voices, than it will only be exposed to particular ideas carrying particular interests and assumptions - the Irish case is far from unique in this.
You can find the presentation on our Research Page under 'Ideas & Advocacy', and we'll release the full paper from John and Brendan in the coming weeks.
