RDC reopening - June 15th
The RDC is reopening on Monday June 15th on an appointment-only basis. Safety measures and new procedures are outlined here; please read carefully before coming to the Centre.
Jun 11, 2020
We are pleased to announce that the RDC will be reopening on Monday June 15 at 9AM.
In order to open, a protocol was developed that was approved by McMaster University and Statistics Canada. It must be followed without exception. The procedures are outlined below and are designed for your safety and ours.
We hope some of these rules and regulations may be eased in the future, but for now they will be requirements in order to work in the RDC. Please read the information below carefully to learn more, and feel free to reach out if you have any questions.
Safety measures
The following safety precautions have been put into place:
- Anyone exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms should stay home.
- Researchers will be asked to practice physical distancing in the RDC (e.g. 2m or 6ft).
- In order to maintain physical distancing, we are only allowing 6 researchers into the RDC at one time. This will be done via an online booking system - further information below.
- Only those with an approved booking are permitted to enter Wilson Hall. We have requested that swipe cards be given access to the exterior doors (e.g. west entrance across the street from the Divinity College parking lot).
- If you have an issue with swipe access, call Peter (ext. 27968) or Li/Anna (ext. 27762).
- Out of province researchers planning to return to McMaster should contact Peter or Li to discuss their situation.
- Face masks are strongly recommended.
- Hand sanitizer will be available at the entrance and we encourage visitors to bring their own.
- The 6 workstations will be cleaned by staff 3 times per day (desk, keyboard, mouse and chair).
New online booking system
The RDC will be open on an appointment-only basis. We are using an online booking system to manage researcher appointments for set time slots. For the time being, the following rules will apply:
- Computer station bookings are submitted via our online system and will be approved by an Analyst.
- Researchers are limited to 1 'block' (~4 hours) per day and 3 blocks per week.
- Appointments must be made at least 24 hours in advance.
- With limited space it is important that researchers plan ahead and meet their appointment times.
A brief user guide on how to use this system can be downloaded HERE - please take the time to look over it. Then please visit booked.mcmaster.ca/rdc/ and hit ‘Register’ on the bottom right to create an account.
