January hours and the availability of a new data set.

January Hours Changes

Please note the upcoming changes to the usual centre operating hours this month:

  • early closing on Friday Dec. 21st - 2pm.
  • CLOSED from Monday Dec. 24th - Tuesday Jan. 1st, reopening Wednesday Jan. 2nd from 9:30am - 5:30pm daily.
  • Extended hours will start again on Tuesday Jan. 15th, 2019.

 

New data sets at the RDC

In the upcoming weeks we will be receiving new data sets and surveys at the McMaster Research Data Centre. Please see the information below. Researchers interested in accessing these data sets are encouraged to submit proposals!

The Discharge Abstract Database (DAD) - National Ambulatory Care Reporting System (NACRS) - Ontario Mental Health Reporting System (OMHRS) linked to Canadian Vital Statistics Death Database (CVSD)

As part of its record linkage activities, Statistics Canada has linked the patient records in the Discharge Abstract Database (DAD), the National Ambulatory Care Reporting System (NACRS) and the Ontario Mental Health Reporting System (OMHRS), which are provided to Statistics Canada annually by the Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI), to the Canadian Vital Statistics Death Database.
 
These linked data can be used to develop and validate health care indicators and perform survival and outcome analyses on acute hospital data. The linking of Vital Statistic Death data with provincial administrative data held by CIHI creates a valuable dataset that can provide answers to important research questions that cannot be found in single administrative datasets alone.
 
The Discharge Abstract Database (DAD) (2000/2001 to 2014/2015), the National Ambulatory Care Reporting System (NACRS) (2002/2003 to 2014/2015) and the Ontario Mental Health Reporting System (OMHRS)(2005/2006 to 2014/2015) linked to the Canadian Vital Statistics Death Database (CVSD)(January 1, 2000 to December 31, 2012) dataset is now accessible at Statistics Canada’s Research Data Centres across the country.
